Medieval Festival for groups
The Häme Medieval Festival will host the event from Thursday evening to Sunday, August 17-20, 2023. From the costume rental company, we conjure up matching medieval costumes for you to complement the historical experience, whether you come to the event during the day or enjoy yourself with us until the dark of night.
The event offers a range of activities and experiences for every visitor. Hämeen Castle and Prison are open during the day for visitors with the event ticket, several battle areas in the area invite you to learn about the secrets of the medieval martial art buhurt, and in the Viking arena you can see how a shield protects a fighter and arrows fly towards the enemy. Jaakko Nuotio teaches you to the secrets of historical riding at the War Horse Camp.

Banquets and tournaments
The castle’s overseer has opened the castle halls for the nobles’ banquets on Friday and Saturday evenings. The historical setting of the castle provides an incredible setting for banquets. The most skilled chefs in the kingdom have been put in charge of the kitchen. There’s also entertainment available for the amusement of the partygoers. Whether you attended a nobleman’s or a Viking banquet, you won’t be disappointed.
The fire show and the Horse Tournament are a joyous attraction at festivals. A spectacular show with amazing effects is also part of the evening’s program and leaves no one cold.

Banquets
During Viking feasts, it can be a little frightening to see the vikings get rowdy amongst themselves during the meal. So be brave and have a cheerful mind with you, because these banquets are not to be missed. The dignified feasts of the nobles can be found in Häme Castle’s great hall and in the living quarters , where the maids bring the steaming dishes onto the tables and eating is done gracefully using a modern fork.
Horse tournament
The amazing Horse Tournament offers an alternative to the banquets. When the day turns to evening, our jousting arena gets it’s time to shine. Dramatic lighting is projected onto the castle walls for the show of the ages, the show of the knights of Rohan.
