Welcome to the Middle Ages!
Welcome to the Häme Medieval Festival, where over 30,000 domestic and international visitors gather for three unforgettable days in the beautiful sceneries of Hämeenlinna!
The Medieval Festival is an immersive experience where the past comes vividly to life. At the heart of the event are spectacular battle reenactments, where Vikings, knights, and warhorses with their riders face off on three different arena stages.
Medieval and Viking camps—complete with authentic residents—offer a glimpse into the everyday life and culture of times long gone, while the Magical Forest invites you deep into the mysteries and myths of the Middle Ages.
The walkways of the event fill with merchants from near and far, offering a dazzling variety of goods: from accessories and clothing to musical instruments and hand-crafted household items. At the live demonstration stations, you can also watch skilled artisans showcase their crafts right before your eyes.
Hunger won’t catch you off guard in the Feast Quarter. The mouthwatering aromas—from flame-grilled salmon to roasted nuts—are guaranteed to make your taste buds dance. And when the sun sets, the celebration continues well past midnight in the Tavern Yard, where joy and music fill the air thanks to the legendary Kireen Kypärän Tavern, a selection of local microbreweries, and a stellar lineup of both Finnish and international performers.
The Häme Medieval Festival is the perfect blend of history, entertainment, and unforgettable experiences for the whole family. Whether you’re a seasoned medieval enthusiast or a first-time visitor, there’s something here for everyone – come and discover the Middle Ages with us!
Häme Medieval Festival 2026 will be held at Kantola Event Park on June 12–14
Linnanpuisto Renovation
-
Durability of the area after renovation: The renovation of Linnanpuisto is extensive, and once completed the park will still need time to settle and strengthen. We cannot be certain how well a newly renovated area would withstand the heavy use and large visitor numbers that our event brings, along with the required constructions. There is a risk that by next summer the park may not yet be in a condition to safely and sustainably host thousands of visitors.
-
Construction takes months: The Medieval Festival is a massive undertaking that requires long-term preparation and building work starting already in winter. Because much of the event is built from wood and handcrafted structures, we need access to the area well in advance. If access were delayed, for example due to post-renovation finishing work, the entire event could be jeopardized.
-
Safety and visitor experience: The safety and comfort of our visitors are our top priorities. We cannot hold the festival in an area where the durability and readiness cannot be fully guaranteed.
Why We Are Choosing Kantola
-
A reliable and ready event venue: Kantola provides a secure and fully functional environment, ensuring that construction can begin in time without uncertainty about the condition of the grounds.
-
Room for preparations: Since our festival is unique and largely built from wood and handcrafted structures, we need months of preparation. Kantola allows us to start the necessary work well in advance.
-
June as a popular time: June is one of the most anticipated event months of the year. To meet the expectations of our audience and to guarantee a high-quality and safe festival, we need a reliable venue where everything can be ensured.
In summary: Our decision to hold the 2026 Häme Medieval Festival at Kantola Event Park is a well-considered and responsible choice. It ensures that the event will be implemented on schedule, in a safe environment, and with the quality our audience expects.
