Welcome to the Middle Ages!

Lend me your ears, gracious folk!

In the fair month of June, when the sun refuses to set and the nights are but a whisper, the city of Hämeenlinna transforms into a realm of enchantment and joy. This is the time when the air is filled with the laughter of fair maidens and the merry games of jolly men.

It is the perfect season for celebration and revelry—dance until the cows come home (and then dance some more)!

Behold gallant knights clad in gleaming armor (when they are not busy rescuing the distressed) as they partake in the grandest of tournaments. Marvel at bold blacksmiths forging swords and splendid jewels with flair and courage. Try your hand at weaving—but take care not to tangle yourself in the threads! Let the sweet tones of the lute and lyre caress your ears and draw you into a merry dance. Even the grumpiest souls have been known to tap their feet at our feasts!

Join the banquet of plentiful delights, where mead flows freely and the dishes are as numerous as the stars in the sky.

Wear your finest attire—be it a tunic, robe, or even your most beloved everyday garb—and hurry to the Häme Medieval Festival.
This is an event not to be missed. A celebration where history and hilarity walk hand in hand, and the magic of midsummer weaves a joyful spell upon all who attend!

Kids and families enjoy multiple activities!

Kakarainkylä is a kingdom just for children, where little ones can explore medieval life through play, skill, and discovery.

Right next to Kakarainkylä, the petting zoo invites visitors to meet and admire animals like sheep, chickens, ponies, and other furry friends. The closeness of animals brings calm, curiosity, and smiles to both young and old.

If a young adventurer needs a break or a diaper change, a care tent is located nearby—a peaceful spot to rest.

In addition to Kakarainkylä, the festival area is filled with many other delightful activities for children—interactive shows, workshops, and surprising encounters await around every corner. There’s no shortage of excitement for our youngest visitors!

This is a place where stories come to life and curiosity is rewarded—best experienced together with a parent.

Tavern is THE place to party!

The Tavern is the warm heart of the festival, where wine flows, laughter rings out and performances spark like fire in the hearth.

Throughout the day, the stage hosts performers at the height of their craft—ready to entertain merchants and wanderers alike.

Artists from near and far weave the crowd into one joyous celebration, and the atmosphere is nothing short of electric.
